I have been teaching pilates both in a general & rehabilitation setting for more than 22 years, working with people of all ages & abilities. For the last 8 years I have, & continue to teach at Arc Pilates in Preston.
For many years, I held a dream to complement my pilates teaching with osteopathic manual therapy. Fortunately, life has been kind to me & I was able to complete my 5 years of osteopathic training at Victoria University, Melbourne. I now hold a B.Sc. & M.HSc. in Osteopathy.
All Australian osteopaths are registered allied health professionals with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency).
My experience in teaching pilates shapes my osteopathy practice. In both pilates and osteopathy, I see an intimate relationship between structure & function - tissues that move freely, with unimpeded flow of blood, lymph, & nerve impulses, are healthy & function fully. Both manual therapy & exercise can create freer movement.
Research consistently finds that recovery from injury is quicker & longer lasting when manual therapy is combined with more active patient engagement that includes exercise prescription.
It is easy to be defined by your diagnosis or feel trapped by your condition.
I trust deeply in the human body’s ability to adapt and change. I have found that Chinese medicine, with its philosophy of continuous flow and transition over stasis, can give people a chance to breathe deeply and find their way to balance.
I am registered with AHPRA, and graduated with distinction from RMIT: Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine)/Bachelor of Health Science. I am also a qualified massage therapist, holding a Diploma of Remedial Massage.
Movement is vital to my heart and joy. I am a contemporary dancer, who trained at Laban in London, and am still regularly attending classes and participating in performance projects.
